By now most of you have probably seen or at least heard of the Coolerguys web based store. This store has been around for quite some time and while other similar establishments have gone by the way side Coolerguys has yet to stop growing and expanding. At this time few can match their wide selection of thermal solutions and other computer accessories geared toward the overclocking community. I myself have had some questions that needed answering. For my answers I went straight to the founder/owner of this website and asked permission to interview him. He readily agreed and here now is a copy of the interview that transpired.
1. Your name is Todd and you are the owner and founder of the site. I have always wondered just how many Coolerguys there are.
There are actually 10 people that make up Coolerguys. Starting May 1st, we will be 11.
Coolerguys.com is actually made up of 3 gals and 8 guys: Andrea, Julie, Rachel, Mikey (he starts May 1st), Dane, Mike, Stephen, Greg, Glenn, Allen and myself.
Everyone here plays an important role to ensure the packages are sent out on time and help the customers the best way they can. We aren’t perfect by any means, but we really try fix any screw ups that happen.
2. How long has it been since Coolerguys was first launched_ CoolerGuys.com launched May 15th, 1998. Back then it was known as ChipCool.com. The name ChipCool was too closely related to a famous manufacturer. So, after a long discussion between attorneys, they agreed to purchase ChipCool.com. At that time, we didn’t have a replacement name. After a few suggestions and about a week of playing with names, CoolerGuys.com was born May of 1999.
3. What has been your most memorable moment in the store's history_ There are so many. I think it was when we moved out of my Garage and family room into our current facility that we have already outgrown. Yes, we were a home based business at one time. Like many of the other e-tailer start ups, it takes a while to get rolling especially if you are not funded.
4. If you could go back in time would you have still started the store_ Oh most definitely! I would have started it earlier if I would have known it would work out like this.
5. Do you find your job thrilling and enjoyable_ =) For sure! I come from a Software background that was less then thrilling. I worked on some very cool projects with the biggest software manufacturer. But, as anyone that has worked that industry knows you get just burned out.
6. How does it feel to be such a success story_ Boy, that’s a loaded question. LOL! I don’t look at CoolerGuys like that right now. Coolerguys.com is fun and still growing. We have a lot to learn and lot to implement to give the customer what they want. It would be pretty arrogant to say we made it. There is a lot more competition then there was 3 years ago. Everyone is jumping into this business. So this means we have to really watch every step and truly take care of the customers.
7. What single htmlect would you attribute the store's success to_ Drive! Everyone here has the same drive. People work here actually 6 days a week. Saturdays I have ¾ of the crew just catching up and fixing what ever issues and customer concerns came up.
It’s all about the customer service!
8. One last question, just for the record. Pepsi of Mountain dew_ =P MOUNTAIN DEW! How do you think I get through the day_!
